Project examples: Elektrolysis

Test bench alkaline pressure electrolysis (AEL 3 kW)

Test bench for the investigation and endurance testing of alkaline pressure electrolysis stacks. To produce hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis of water, the water is split into its components in an alkaline solution. The alkaline solution serves as an electrolyte and promotes ion transport between the electrodes.

The test stand is designed for stacks of up to 20 cells with an active cell area of up to 100cm².

Up to 90°C

Gas pressure from ambient pressure to 30bar

Max. active cell area: 100cm²

Max. number of cells: 20

Max. current: 250A

Completely made of stainless steel (e.g. frame…)

Two independent potassium-alkali circuits for each electrode

Activation circuit integrated

Dynamic and very accurate pressure and differential pressure control

Analysis of the produced gases

Safety-related gas monitoring H2 in O2 and O2 in H2

Safety-related N2 purging concept

Test bench polymer electrolyte membrane – electrolysis
(PEMEL 10kW)

Test bench for characterisation and endurance testing of PEM electrolysis stacks. Electrolysis is used to produce hydrogen and oxygen from water by means of a solid polymer membrane separating the cathode and anode sides.

The test stand is designed for stacks of up to 10 cells with an active cell area of up to 450cm².

Up to 95°C

Pressure range anode and cathode can be set independently or coupled from ambient pressure up to 50bar

Max. active cell area: 450cm²

Max. number of cells: 10

Max. current: 1200A

Two independent water circuits each for anode and cathode

Dry cathode operation possible

Dynamic and very accurate pressure and differential pressure control

Analysis of the produced gases

Safety-related gas monitoring H2 in O2 and O2 in H2

Safety-related N2 purging concept
